Covid-19 is causing us to feel more stressed than normal with feelings of depression, sometimes resulting in anxiety, which can be heightened during lock-down.
Loneliness and often unwanted thoughts and memories can be more obvious and more difficult to deal with, especially during this time, support and sharing those worries, thoughts or anxieties can be eased by talking. However online and telephone counselling is our only route of therapy practice available at this time, but it is proving effective and supportive. I work with zoom, and I find it is so much nicer to have face to face contact, it helps normalise our therapeutic work, however phone calls can also be effective when online isn’t available.
I specialise in presenting anxiety, stress-related issues and present trauma events or past complex traumatic events.
I currently work within NHS referral mental health service as well as running my own successful private practice as a Psychotherapeutic Counsellor.
I am an integrative therapist, which means I use a wide range of tools, and tailor therapy to the individual needs of the individual client. My main focus is always to support my client to help move beyond their symptoms and to provide coping strategies that are effective to help them to move forward and use when needed. I use mindfulness techniques with the clients permission and this helps the client find a peaceful, safe mental place to help them if and when they need it. Many of my clients present a wide range of concerns that impact their day-to-day life and I specialise in many areas to support many past or present events in their lives.
I understand on a personal level, loneliness due to my past serious illness, and how this can cause fear, loneliness and or with anxiety.
Therefore I can bring support with tools to help ease life at a difficult time. which can often lead to difficulties through fear, numbness, anxiety resulting in trauma and sometimes leading onto PTSD.
My belief is that each person is an individual with personal individual needs and my unique approach and skill sets accommodate this.
My goal is to exclusively focus on my clients and treat with respect! (Treat as I would like to be treated)!
It should be noted like all therapy it is a two-way relationship and commitment is needed from both sides to make effective progress, working through trauma can be a difficult experience but with a very rewarding outcome.
