The curious paradox is that when I accept myself just as I am, then I can change

Counselling may be a good option

If you are struggling and you feel like you could benefit from someone to talk to, counselling may be a good option for you.

Many individuals face difficulties and can become overwhelmed trying to handle them alone.

Sometimes, we may experience feelings of depression or anxiety but struggle to understand why.

Safe and supportive environment

Through a safe and supportive environment at Core Counselling, you can be guided through the exploration of your thoughts, experiences, and emotions.

I understand that seeking counselling can be a vulnerable experience, and I am here to support you every step of the way.

By working together, I can help you to gain a deeper insight and understanding of what is happening in your life; perhaps an alternative perspective, all leading to a stronger sense of self and a greater sense of control and resilience.

Compassionate approach to therapy

Taking an individualised, nurturing and compassionate approach to therapy is at the core.

I will work with you to develop a personalised plan that meets your unique needs and goals.

Whether you’re struggling with relationship issues, work-related stress, or mental health concerns, or you would like to gain further self-awareness, I am here to support you on your journey to healing and personal growth.

I am a calm, understanding, gentle, fully qualified and BACP registered integrative counsellor & psychotherapist passionate about supporting people to work on themselves. To grow, to learn, and to become more self-aware.

Mental Health experience

With many years of work experience within the Mental Health sector; I have learnt skills I can draw upon within the counselling space.

I have worked closely with adults struggling with severe Depression, Anxiety, Self-harming tendencies, Suicidal ideation, Bipolar Disorder, Schizophrenia and Psychosis, to name a few.

You are in safe hands.

Prior to this, I spent time in the general health and nursing field, at the Royal Devon & Exeter Hospital.

I have also been a support worker in the community working with elderly clients, and within a residential home; working with learning disabilities and autism.

This is where I later took on a role within the management team.

    Autism Aware

Understanding Autism and Neuro-diversity is a passion of mine, I feel there is such an importance for being autism aware within the counselling space.

I have learnt through personal experience and volunteering with Dimensions for Autism; a Devon-based support group for neuro-diverse adults, that the counselling process can sometimes take longer, there can be difficulty focusing or concentrating, delayed emotional reactions, and difficulty expressing emotion, to name a few examples.

My placement hours throughout my degree, allowed me to gain plenty of experience working with adults either diagnosed or suspecting they are on the spectrum. But, without learning disabilities.  This has ensured an in-depth knowledge and awareness around autism and it also means that my counselling approach has naturally evolved with an understanding of neuro-diversity from the start.

If you find yourself wondering whether you may be on the spectrum; Core counselling can be a safe and confidential space where you can begin to understand what may be going on for you. If you wish, I can walk alongside you on your journey to becoming diagnosed and beyond.. every step of the way.
