In 2002 the Centre of Therapy acquired premises on Sauchiehall Street and from there continued the training of more than 100 cognitive behavioural therapists.
From these graduates, was formed a group of BABCP accredited psychotherapists and qualified therapists, who as members of the Centre are able to provide Cognitive Behavioural Therapy to those with mild to moderate mental health difficulties who ask for their help.
By 2012 the demand for the Centre’s training and therapy increased to a level which required more space and the Centre was able to purchase the present building at 8 Newton Place.
The Centre has eight therapy rooms with the potential of providing seventy sessions per room per week.
Our rooms are available to rent by suitably qualified therapists.
The Centre also has a training suite with two training rooms as well as additional groupwork rooms which provide the accommodation for the training of three groups of counselling skills trainees per week and four groups of diploma level trainees per month. We also deliver 3-4 Introductory Courses in CBT per year and 6-8 continual professional development training events per year.
The Centre team work toward sustainability by creating opportunities for graduates to work as apprentices to more experienced and qualified trainers thus ensuring the future of the training and therapy.
At the heart of our practice is the provision of clinical supervision to therapists, supervisors and trainers.
This provides the essential oversight necessary for the maintenance of good practice.
Our Board of Directors and Staff are working toward delivering excellence in training and the highest quality of therapeutic service to our students and clients. We are consistently looking for additional opportunities for growth and development. Join us in our community dedicated to the mental health and well-being of Glasgow and beyond.
Whatever your personal circumstances the Centre for Therapy aim to help put you in touch with a therapist that can help.
