Mary Cahir

If your life is not going how you would like it to be and you are not sure how to make it better or what to do, this is a good enough reason to see a therapist

Mary Cahir

Over the last 20 years, I have learned that the ONE constant element in predicting better mental health, growth, achievement & positive outcomes is the Response we make to situations and the people in our lives.

I can work with you to help you achieve better results in all or some of these areas, depending on what you choose.

My story

After completing a Psychology Degree in England, I started working with children in residential care and their families, working with them towards better relationships.

In New York, I completed an MSc in Psychology, working with children and as a Counsellor for undergraduates, helping them find solutions that worked.

Working with them to help them become more effective at achieving their goals. In Ireland, I lectured in Psychology & Child Development.

Trained as a Psychotherapist

I went on to train as a Psychotherapist & established a Private Practice and also provided Counselling at the National University of Galway as part of the Student Counselling Service.

I started working online before the pandemic and since then I have established an online private practice with clients from around the world.

I am a fully Accredited Member of the Irish Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (IACP).

My work is covered by professional indemnity and public liability insurance.

My Approach

I am a Psychotherapist, Counsellor and Coach.

I work in a way that combines all these approaches that are tailored to your individual needs.

There are times in life when we face challenges, difficulties and transitions.

We each have our ways of coping until we reach a point where our ways of coping don’t seem to work as well as they used to.

We may experience this as Anxiety, Stress, Depression, Trauma or general unhappiness.

Be heard

Being heard in a confidential non-judgmental space is the beginning of working through life’s challenges and stresses.

Sadness, anger and disappointment are all part of life; but emotions can sometimes become overwhelming.

Psychotherapy and counselling can help you process these emotions and work towards more positive ways of coping.

It provides the opportunity to understand your feelings and work towards creating more positive relationships.

The first relationship to consider is the relationship with oneself, we cannot change other people.

Online Counselling & Psychotherapy

When the world changes we have to change with it.

Since 2020, we have all had to adapt to different circumstances. It can be difficult to know what to do when life is not going well.

Counselling and therapy can help you identify healthier ways of dealing with life’s stresses.

I’m Mary Cahir, a qualified Psychotherapist, Coach and Counsellor, with over 20 years of experience in helping people struggling with a wide variety of mental health and personal problems.

I can help you to cope better with life.

The events of 2020 may have bought up problems or issues that you were not aware of, or maybe some existing issues were highlighted.

So what do we do now?

How we respond to our circumstances is the first step to making changes in our lives.

I employ the highly effective  ‘Change the Response’ strategy, which works with all aspects of an individual’s life, including:

  • Home and family life
  • Work and career, including relationships with co-workers and management
  • Partners, including current and exes
  • Children, including both young and old

Achieve a happier more fulfilling life

I know that it is not always possible to change your situation but by working with you to change your response and consider possibilities, I can help you achieve a happier, more fulfilling life.

My approach is one of caring and confidential support, in an online setting.

Whilst personal development and change are not always easy, it is certainly well worth the effort.
